Alappuzha Gymkhana has confirmed its digital premiere date after a successful theatrical run.
The Malayalam sports drama will start streaming on SonyLIV from June 13, 2025, making it available to viewers in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi languages.
About the Movie
Alappuzha Gymkhana tells the story of five teenagers from Alappuzha who fail their board exams and discover boxing as their path to college admission through their sports quota.
The film follows Jojo Johnson (Naslen), David “DJ” John, Shifas “Valthu” Ahammed, Shifas “Cherthu” Ali, and Shanavas as they train at the local Alappuzha Gymkhana under coach Salim and later with state-level boxer Antony Joshua (Lukman Avaran).

Directed by Khalid Rahman, the film transforms from a simple sports story into a coming-of-age saga about brotherhood, determination, and finding purpose beyond winning. The ensemble cast includes Ganapathi S. Poduval, Anagha Ravi, Franco Francis, Baby Jean, and Shiva Hariharan.
Alappuzha Gymkhana OTT Release
SonyLIV will begin streaming Alappuzha Gymkhana from June 13, 2025.
The digital release comes approximately eight weeks after its theatrical premiere on April 10, 2025. Viewers can access the film in five different languages, making it accessible to a pan-Indian audience.
Box Office Success
Alappuzha Gymkhana emerged as a massive commercial success, earning over ₹65 crores worldwide during its theatrical run. The film collected ₹39.05 crores at the Indian box office and ₹20 crores from overseas markets. In Kerala alone, the movie grossed ₹36 crores by its third weekend.
The film became the second most profitable Malayalam film of 2025 and the fourth Malayalam movie to cross the ₹50 crore mark worldwide in 2025, following Rekhachithram, Officer On Duty, and L2: Empuraan. Alappuzha Gymkhana also outperformed Naslen’s previous hit Premalu in box office trends.
The movie’s success extended beyond Kerala, with strong collections in Karnataka (₹3.04 crores), Tamil Nadu (₹1.83 crores), and Andhra Pradesh-Telangana (₹2.26 crores). The Telugu-dubbed version released on April 25 contributed significantly to the film’s extended run.
Will Alappuzha Gymkhana’s digital success on SonyLIV inspire more Malayalam sports dramas to explore similar themes of youth and determination?
