Volkswagen is gearing up to expand its premium lineup in India, following the recent buzz around the Tiguan R-line.

The German carmaker will introduce two new models: the performance-driven Volkswagen Golf GTI and the all-new compact SUV, Volkswagen Tera.

Volkswagen Golf GTI: Hot Hatch Returns

The Volkswagen Golf GTI is set to launch in India on May 15, 2025, with an expected price of ₹52 lakh.

This iconic hot hatch is known for its sporty appeal and powerful performance. The 2025 GTI will come equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering around 244 bhp and 273 Nm of torque.

It features a front-wheel-drive setup, a 6-speed manual transmission, and a host of tech upgrades, including a larger 10.9-inch infotainment screen and advanced safety features.

Volkswagen Tera: New Compact SUV for India

The Volkswagen Tera is expected to hit Indian roads on January 15, 2026, at a competitive price of ₹8 lakh.

This compact SUV will target the sub-4m segment and share its platform with the Skoda Kylaq.

The Tera will offer a 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine producing 118 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, paired with both manual and automatic gearbox options.

The cabin will feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and modern connectivity features.

The Tera’s design takes cues from Volkswagen’s global SUV lineup, promising a premium yet practical experience for Indian buyers.
