A viral video of the strange dish first appeared on Instagram, shared by food vlogger accounts including ‘@bhukkad_bagh’ and ‘@momos_hi_momos’.
According to reports, the video shows a street vendor from Babbu Momos in Vivek Vihar, Delhi, preparing the unusual item. The clip has since racked up millions of views, with many viewers expressing their shock and disbelief.
A Recipe for Disaster?
The viral video shows the vendor creating a gravy by sautéing vegetables like onions and capsicum. He then adds mayonnaise, cream, and the most surprising ingredients: litchi juice and chunks of fresh litchi fruit.
Finally, he tosses fried momos into this sweet and savory gravy before serving it to customers. This creation follows a trend of other strange food fusions like Fanta Maggi and Chocolate Samosa.
“Paap Lagega,” Says the Viral Video
The reaction online has been overwhelmingly negative. Food enthusiasts were quick to condemn the dish in the comments section. One user wrote, “Paap lagega, garud puran mai alag sajha hai iske liye” (You will sin, there is a separate punishment for this in the Garuda Purana).
Another commented, “Please stop this deadly experiment with momo. It hurts my eye, tongue, soul everything“. Many questioned why anyone would create such a combination, with one user simply asking, “Aakhir kyu?” (But why?).
