Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are set to star in the upcoming spy-thriller series Citadel: Honey Bunny. The teaser released today, shows the duo in action-packed scenes with a retro vibe.

The show will premiere on Prime Video on November 7, 2024.

The series is directed by Raj and DK, known for “The Family Man” and “Farzi“. The star-studded cast also includes Kay Kay Menon, Simran, and Sikandar Kher.

The teaser gives viewers a taste of what’s to come, featuring Varun and Samantha’s characters in thrilling action sequences. There are no dialogues in the 1-minute 33-second clip. But, with the classic song “Raat Baaki” playing in the background, the visuals portray a retro 90s vibe.

At the teaser launch, Varun Dhawan shared his excitement, saying, “This is just a small glimpse into the series.” Everything about it will be a surprise right from the background score to the action. There is a 12-13 minute one-take action sequence in the series which makes it truly special.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared her thoughts on being part of the series, saying, “I never imagined I would do this action. But today, for me, being at this event is already such a victory. This is because at the last moment I didn’t think I could do it. I didn’t think I would be part of the Citadel. I’m extremely grateful to Raj, DK, Sita, and Amazon for coming to my rescue.

“Citadel Honey Bunny” is part of a larger franchise, with the American version starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden released last year. The show is executive produced by the Russo Brothers, known for Marvel blockbusters like “Avengers: Endgame.”

According to the makers, the series “combines the action of an intense spy thriller with the heartwarming romance of a love story, all set in the 90s.”
