Kannada superstar Yash, widely loved for his role in the KGF series, has made an emotional request to his fans before his birthday on January 8, 2025.
This comes in the wake of a tragic incident earlier this year, where three young fans lost their lives while erecting a celebratory banner for his birthday.
Yash’s Message: Prioritize Safety Over Grand Gestures
In a heartfelt statement, Yash urged his fans to avoid risky celebrations like erecting banners, chasing vehicles, or taking dangerous selfies.
He emphasized that their safety and well-being meant more to him than any grand display of affection. “If you wish me wholeheartedly from wherever you are, that is the best gesture for me,” he said, adding that such tragic incidents make him fear his birthday.
The actor also stressed that true fandom lies in leading a responsible and successful life. “Dedicate your life to yourself and make your families proud. That is how you can truly honour me,” he appealed.
The Tragic Incident That Shook Yash
On January 7, 2024, three fans— Hanumanth Harijan (24), Murali Naduvinamani (20), and Naveen Gaaji (20)—were electrocuted while installing a 25-foot metal banner in Karnataka’s Gadag district. The banner accidentally touched a live electric wire. Three others were injured in the incident.
Deeply moved by the tragedy, Yash visited the victims’ families, offering financial aid and condolences. However, he maintained that no amount of support could undo the loss suffered by their loved ones.
A Call for Change in Fan Culture
Yash’s plea echoes a growing concern among South Indian stars about extreme fan behaviour during birthdays and film releases. Other actors like Darshan and Sudeep have urged fans to avoid risky acts like erecting massive cutouts or pouring milk over banners.
As Yash prepares for a low-key celebration this year, he hopes his message will inspire fans to celebrate responsibly.
